Shanklin Ladies beat Wight Eagles at Cowes Enterprise College to reach the semi finals of the Hampshire Invitational Cup at Cowes Enterprise College on Sunday, 24th November.
The game was due to be played at the County Ground but a waterlogged pitch forced the game to be played on the 4G pitch at Cowes.
Wight Eagles kicked off with Storm Bert in their favour.
The Division 2 side began the game strongly, taking the lead in the 5th minute when Abi Joyce cut inside before burying the ball in the top left corner (0-1).
It took until the 26th minute for Shanklin Ladies to find an equalising goal when Gemma Woodford put Freya Henry through, for Freya to round the keeper and score (1-1).
Shanklin then took the lead in 1st half injury time from a right footed strike from Peggy Stagg (2-1).

Shanklin played the 2nd half with the gale force wind behind them.
Gemma Woodford added a 3rd for the higher league side in the 49th minute, with a superb individual goal that bounced in off the upright (3-1).
Shanklin’s 4th came in the 53rd minute courtesy of a Thea Broadhead shot that hit the roof of the net (4-1).
Shanklin went down to 10 women midway through the 2nd half when Jasmine Bavington was sinbinned but held out for a win which took them into the final 4 of the Hampshire Invitational Cup.
